Designer Chandos Dodson Epley infuses rich details and warm doses of color to create the ultimate bachelor pad perched in the heart of Houston.
RICH HUES AND CLEAN LINES LEND THEMSELVES
to this modernized renovation for a young bachelor making a Texas-sized move to Houston from New York City. The homeowner enlisted design darling Chandos Dodson Epley of her eponymous firm, Chandos Interiors (chandosinteriors. com), to help bring his vision of making a sharp medley of high end meets relaxed ambiance come to life. “The client described that he wanted [the home] to be as stylish as a custom Tom Ford suit. We went with it!” notes Epley on the initial brainstorming. “He wanted everything done to the nines.” In order to achieve this handsome blend, Chandos weaved in natural materials with a mixture of metals to help balance out the sharp lines and masculine undertones to work alongside the soft, textural fabrics throughout the space. Dark jewel tones served as the overall palette while also pulling in a sumptuous assortment of wow-worthy art and accessories for an extra punch. “Not only did he have an eye for great custom pieces,” notes Epley, “but he bought fabulous art with the help of Mary Hammon Quinn at C2 Art Advisors.” C2 Art Advisors—an art advising agency founded by Epley—helped guide the overall transformation of the space. The client let her build out a personalized collection for him, which consisted of abstract paintings and sculptural accessories. The pieces served as a focal point throughout the space. The end result? A dapper blend of clean meets contemporary energy—helping the new Houstonian to feel right at home.

From left: The guest bedroom houses a handsome blend of uberchic detailing and comfortable furnishings through fi nishing touches including bedside lights from Area and nightstand from Interlude Home through Burke Decor; the primary bedroom boasts a contemporary club chair from Lee Industries helping to offset the rich Natalia-style dresser from The Joseph Company.
The primary bathroom features croft brass wall mirrors from CB2 to pair perfectly with the sconces with etched crystal.
