Houston Home Harmony: Chandos Collective’s Masterful Blend of Art and Design

A Creative Spin on Midcentury Design
Designer Chandos Dodson Epley of Chando Collective has masterfully woven her creative touch throughout this 6,500-square-foot space, originally the personal home of renowned builder Richard Condon. The design blends the client’s Mexican heritage with a modern Houston aesthetic, creating a unique and inviting home.
Personalized and International Flair
Epley emphasizes her love for creating homes that are unique to her clients. For this project, she collaborated with art advisor Mary Hammon Quinn to source custom pieces and artworks from around the world, fostering the client’s newfound interest in art collecting. The design incorporates terra cotta and moss green tones to complement the architecture and the expansive grounds, resulting in a warm, yet minimalist interior.

Key design elements include:
- Lounge Area: Featuring chairs from Luteca covered in GH leather in Pompeii brown and a drinks table by Holly Hunt.
- Entryway: Showcasing a Paul Marra console, Porter Teleo custom wallpaper, and artwork by Field Kallop.
- Art Pieces: Including Josef Albers’ vibrant screenprint paired with McGuire Danish cord swivel counter stools.
- Powder Bath: Adorned with wallpaper from MJ Atelier and Phillip Jeffries, and an elegant sconce from Urban Electric.
